Sound design and music for a performance theater play, directed by Katalin Sofalvi, Tyatriom, November 2010, Berlin.
This play was based on the original tragedy by Shakespeare. Katalin Sofalvi directed this well-known piece as a dusky, impressionistic vision, more focused on the psychological depths of the characters than in the story line.
For the sound design I tried to transfer the dark intensity of the play and its strong images to the auditory level. Natural sounds, noises and musical elements blend into one another forming a continuous atmosphere rather than a linear sequence.
The challenge was to keep the sound design concept adaptable to different scenes throughout the play. The first step was the creation of a basic tonal 'color' for the whole piece. Subsequently the sounds could be freely set around this basis.
